Denied

The summer job hunt has been fruitless. With few pickings, my endless endeavors to find the coolest internship in the world hasn't panned out. Being an aficionado of cereal I thought working at Post, General Mills, or Kellogs would be a perfect fit. Then I thought it would be a good idea to shoot over my resume to local companies like Faygo and Better Made. After spending way too much time on cover letters, polishing my resume, finding previous employers addresses and reference numbers, I sent out another wave of e-mails to design and advertising agencies. From the 13 companies I applied to, I got responses from three. Denied by two and waiting for the verdict by the third.

In a way, it's demoralizing, but then again, who wants to hire an English major for a business/marketing related internship? I get it, sort of. Fact is, however, I have so much passion learning about businesses, that if I was given a chance to interview I would totally bust out some proverbial kung fu and get the gig. I guess it's cocky for me to think this way, but I'm pretty confidant in my interview abilities. It's cliche to say this, but everything is changing so fast in business and it would seem more companies should be looking for some diversity in their interns or employees. What kind of company wouldn't want an idea guy? A lot I guess.
